For Parents & Educators

About Omar Institute & The Time Explorers

Omar Institute is a platform for virtue-based learning for children. Our aim is to provide resources that spark curiosity in young minds, support them in exploring life's biggest questions, and help parents and educators nurture confident, compassionate children rooted in timeless virtues.

Our flagship resource

The Time Explorers is a children's journey through world history, told through two young guides, Omar and Fatima, who lead readers from the age of dinosaurs all the way through the age of ships and stars. Each stop is a page: a scene to look at, a short story, and a map to explore.

Our approach

The story follows two threads side by side: the line of prophets from Adam onward, rooted in the Quran and Islamic tradition, and the wider world happening alongside it, from ancient Egypt and China to the Vikings and the navigators of the Pacific. Where other traditions' accounts agree with the Islamic sources, we note it. Where they disagree, the Islamic account leads.

Every stop is written in simple, honest language for children roughly six to nine years old, with real history behind every scene: real places, real people, and real events, shown on a real map.

Made with care

This project is made by the Omar Institute, and is continually being refined, corrected, and expanded. If you notice anything that could be improved, or would like to share how your family or classroom is using it, we would love to hear from you.
